ABOUT US
THE TRACE PROJECT
Teaching Resources and Collaborative Empowerment
Human existence presents a paradox: celebrating the uniqueness of our personal stories while embracing the shared narrative that defines our collective humanity. It is in finding the common threads in the fabric of our collective histories that allows us to enhance human empathy and compassion. These common threads may be found in the outpouring of art.

TRACE (Teaching Resources and Collaborative Empowerment) is a groundbreaking initiative founded to shed light on the impact of injustice and genocide on the world of art and foster a deeper understanding of historical tragedy. The project is led by Amalia Abecassis, who recognized the importance of preserving her cultural heritage and addressing the repercussions of the Holocaust on artistic creations.
To further this creative endeavor, Amalia established The TRACE Project as a 501(c)(3) organization. The project receives support from esteemed institutions such as the Provenance Research Department at the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Holocaust Museum of Los Angeles, and the Jewish Digital Cultural Recovery Project, which is generously funded by the European Union. These collaborations bring together expertise, resources, and a shared commitment to uncovering the hidden histories of art.
With a steadfast dedication to education, The TRACE Project aims to create meaningful learning experiences that illuminate the far-reaching impact of the Holocaust, other forms of injustice and even genocide. Through a combination of meticulous research, exhibitions, and educational programs, the project seeks to bridge the gap between history, art, and human experiences. By exploring the stories and the provenance behind the art, TRACE endeavors to ensure that the lessons of the past resonate with present and future generations.

The TRACE Project also endeavors to facilitate dialogue and collaboration among scholars, researchers, art historians, and curators. By fostering a network of experts and institutions, the project aims to pool knowledge, share discoveries, and contribute to the ongoing field of provenance research. They invite you to join this important initiative, whether through learning more about the project, contributing your expertise, or supporting their efforts.
